Hi Guys, We haven't forgotten about you all. We've been so busy with the new clubhouse opening up and with most of you doing other activities on different nights, its been hard to find a day that suits.
We've decided to go for Tuesday nights (dates to be confirmed) in the new year. Before then, you know you are welcome to the clubhouse to see us and to attend the Senior football team home games using your free passes.
New members welcome in the new year aged between 11 - 16.
For any info, phone us. Hope to see you all soon.

The sudden death at his home in the village on 4th November of a former behind-the-scenes stalwart of our club has overshadowed all else. Dave MacFarlane was the club secretary before me during the period from 1997 to 2003 and he was a hard act to follow.
In his younger days, Dave played football at the highest level with Everton FC and afterwards with Runcorn FC, being a native of the North West. On moving to Hooky, he offered his services and experience to our club, and undoubtedly the success that subsequently ensued for the club was in no small way due to Dave’s contribution. At this time of great sadness, everyone at the club extends their deepest sympathy to Dave’s wife Sandra and to Neil their son. A minute’s silence before the FA Vase match at The Bourne on 15th November was held in Dave’s memory and in recognition of his valued services to our club.
On the playing front, the situation for both our teams remains, in general, most satisfactory. The First Team continues to occupy a position within the top ten teams in the Premier Division of the Hellenic League and, at the time of writing, it faces the exciting prospect of playing VT FC (from Southampton) of the Wessex League Premier Division in the Second Round of the FA Vase at The Bourne on this coming Saturday. This match is, arguably, the most important that the club has played in its 100 years+ history. Additionally, the team is still in the Floodlit Cup and is yet to compete in this season’s Oxfordshire Senior Cup. Meanwhile, the Second Team, despite its relative youth and inexperience, is more than holding its own in Division 2 (West) of the Hellenic League and has won through to the next round of the league’s Reserves Challenge Cup.
Briefly, our situation can be summarised as, “so far, so good”.
With the Festive Season fast approaching, its time for me to remind you about fund raising activities that are coming up for the club and for the Sports and Social Club to which we are affiliated: we are again holding our licensed Grand Christmas Draw (with a £100 First Prize), with the Draw taking place at the Sports and Social clubhouse on the evening of Saturday 13th December and, on the same evening, the club will be staging its Annual Race Night. If you are able, please support us with these ventures and please continue to support our teams at matches, both at home and away. This support is greatly appreciated by all at the club. For our part, we will continue to fly the flag for the club and, more importantly, for Hook Norton and its surrounding area.
Kind regards to you all; please accept the good wishes from everyone at Hook Norton Football Club for Christmas and the New Year.
Postscript - FA Vase Drama
Hooky's home FA Vase Second Round match against VT FC, was both an exciting and a poignant occasion for the North Oxfordshire FTL Futbol Hellenic Division team and its supporters. It was exciting because the match represented the furthest that the village club has ever reached in any national competition and it was poignant because the club dedicated the occasion to the memory of Dave MacFarlane, the club's secretary from 1997 to 2003, who died suddenly on 4th November. Prior to the match, both teams, the match officials and spectators stood in silent tribute to Dave in the presence of Dave's widow Sandra, father John and sister Ann.
The occasion was most touching not only because of the above circumstances but also because the Hooky team were accompanied by mascots, comprising of players from the club's Under 8s' team under the guidance of their manager Jon Hawkins. Together with the senior players, the mascots also observed the minute's silence.
There is absolutely no doubt that Dave would have been deservedly proud of all that occurred on this occasion, not least being Hooky's most creditable draw, thereby forcing a replay on Tuesday evening coming at Southampton, against very accomplished opponents.
STOP PRESS The weather postponed that match, due to an unfit pitch in Southampton and supporters had to wait until Saturday 22nd before the re-match could take place. Sadly, that’s when the dream ended with a scoreline of 4-0. Hooky can hold their heads high, playing at that level and with VT needing the home advantage to take the match.

Winter Leagues
We are putting forward 4 floodlit teams and 3 weekend teams, and they are all performing well so far, with good wins for the floodlit D and weekend C teams.
Events
Men’s singles tournament, held in early October, was won by Nicholas Morgan (pictured left). On a rather chilly and damp October Saturday Nick Morgan and Chris Butcher played out the club men's singles final. With 2 steady players the first set proved tough work - the comment from them both being "a war of attrition"- with Nick finally winning 7-5. In the second set Nick proved fitter and although a number of games went to deuce, the score was 6-1. It was a tough match in tricky conditions!
